The party game with an AI judge

Draw it.
The AI judges it.

One friend describes a secret picture. Everyone else draws it on their phone. Then an AI guesses what each doodle is, scores it out of 100, and roasts it.

How a round works

Describe. Draw. Get judged.

A round takes about two minutes. It's a lot like telephone, but with a very honest robot at the end.

Step 1

Make a room

Tap New Game and share the 5-letter code. 2–8 friends, iPhone and Android together.

Step 2

Describe it

One player sees a secret picture and describes it without naming it. AI hints help if you're stuck.

Step 3

Everyone draws

60 seconds, one finger, pens, colours and a paint bucket. No art skills required (clearly).

Step 4

The AI judges

Every drawing gets a score, what the AI thought it was, and a roast. Best artist and best describer win points.

Fair, explainable scoring

An AI judge that shows its work

Most AI games give you a number. Sketchmate shows why you got it.

  • 1
Blind guess first. The AI names your drawing before it knows the answer. If a stranger would get it, so does it.
  • 2
Then a real rubric. Subject, details from the clue, and effort, weighted 60/25/15.
  • 3
No cheating. Writing “FOX” on the canvas doesn't count, and blank canvases score zero.
  • 4
See every drawing. The results screen puts your doodle next to what the AI saw, what matched and what was missing.

How the Sketchmate AI judge scores a drawing A drawing goes through two passes in parallel. The blind pass guesses what it shows without knowing the answer. The rubric pass scores subject, details and effort against the secret. Both combine into a 0 to 100 score with an explanation. Your drawing 1 · Blind guess “What is this?” without being told the answer Top-3 guesses → recognition score (30%) 2 · Rubric vs. the secret Subject 60% · Details 25% · Effort 15% Blank = 0 · written answer capped at 20 82 / 100 ✓ AI guessed it blind + bushy tail − orange colour plus a one-line roast
Two passes run in parallel. The final score is computed from the numbers, not made up by the model, so it's consistent and explainable.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is Sketchmate?

Sketchmate is a multiplayer party drawing game for iPhone and Android. One player secretly sees a picture and describes it without naming it, everyone else draws from the description, and an AI judge scores every drawing from 0 to 100 with a one-line roast.

How does the AI judge drawings?

Each drawing is checked twice. First the AI guesses what the drawing shows without being told the answer (the blind guess). Then it scores the drawing against the secret with a rubric: subject 60%, details from the clue 25%, effort 15%. The final score is calculated from those numbers, so it is consistent and every score comes with an explanation.

Can I cheat by writing the answer?

No. The judge ignores letters and words inside drawings, and a drawing that is mostly written text is capped at 20 points. Blank canvases score zero.

How many people can play?

2 to 8 players per room, on any mix of iPhone and Android. There is also a solo practice mode.

Do I need an account?

No. Play as a guest with just a name. Signing in saves your stats, friends and pencils across devices.

Is it free?

Yes, Sketchmate is free to download and play. Premium unlocks themed image packs and extra features.

Is Sketchmate family friendly?

Yes. Prompts are everyday things, animals, food and fantasy, descriptions are moderated, and the AI is told to tease the drawing, never the person.
